TVS Motor Company launched its premium executive deluxe 125cc motorcycle, TVS Phoenix 125 in Chennai today. Dubbed by the company to be one of the most exciting products to roll off its lines, TVS Phoenix 125 is targeted at consumers who aspire to upgrade from just commuting to those who crave for a spirited ride experience without compromising on mileage.

TVS Phoenix 125 is loaded with premium features; and backed by an all new, highly refined 125cc EcoThrust engine, that provides excellent pickup with best in class fuel efficiency. The bike promises to be a seamless combination of premium style and comfort with unique, first of its kind features in its segment.
Speaking at the launch, Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Motor Company said, "We have developed an all new engine for this motorcycle. It complements several unique features to ensure 'premium ride quality'. With this launch, we hope to increase our market share in the segment. This launch also completes our motorcycle product portfolio."
TVS Phoenix 125 is equipped with novel features that are usually seen in cars. For the first time in this segment, features such as a fully digital speedometer, backlit in premium amber; a digital fuel gauge, a low battery reminder, a trip meter, service reminder, soft texture grips and soft touch switchgear have been provided. For the first time in India, TVS Phoenix offers car like hazard lamps to enhance added safety for the rider.
Riding comfort of TVS Phoenix 125 has been maximized by way of five-step adjustable 'series spring' suspension, high response damper and ergonomically positioned handle bar for superior riding control.
Engineered to magnify the joy of riding, TVS Phoenix 125 is equipped with EcoThrust technology: dynamic tuning which regulates the flow of petrol to deliver optimum combination of power and fuel economy. This facilitates superior pickup while delivering lower fuel consumption. An electric start fires up the 4 speed powertrain of TVS Phoenix 125 to churn out 11 PS of power@ 8000 rpm.

2011 Tvs Apache RTR with ABS

 

TVS has finally launched a motorbike model that would make skidding and slipping not an accident, but an act of dare-devilry. The motorcycle, a variant of the existing 180-cc Apache RTR, comes with anti-lock braking system (ABS), hitherto used in passenger cars and high-end imported mobikes. ABS is a technology that prevents wheel locking that happens during hard braking, thus minimising the risk of skidding. At Rs 78,880 (ex-showroom Delhi), it is almost Rs 10,000 dearer than a non ABS Apache, but by far the smallest and cheapest mobike to get the technology in the world.

“ABS technology prevents skidding and assists effective braking, especially in wet and muddy roads while providing for shorter cornering,” said HS Goindi, president, marketing, TVS Motor. “We have tested this vehicle comprehensively at speeds of 120 kmph on wet roads and can say with some authority that falling off from this mobike will not be that easy. Unless one intends to.”

“ABS for motorcycles is a decisive step towards evolution of safety to such a level that no serious accidents happen on the road,” said Murali Srinivasan, general manager, Continental.

Jointly developed by TVS along with Continental Corporation, the ABS system prevents the brakes from locking under emergency situations and at the same time improves overall braking performance by reducing stopping distance and time in all weather conditions like dry or wet, thus helping in improving the overall safety of the rider.

With the ABS technology, an average rider will have 10-25 per cent quicker stopping distance on dry roads and 20-30 per cent on wet roads. Whereas, the professionals will be able to achieve 16 percent quicker stopping distance on wet roads.

With maximum power of 17bhp @ 8500rpm, the Apache churns out 15.5Nm of torque at 6500 rpm and delivers upto 44-45 kmpl of mileage. Available only in glittering white colour and tubeless tyres, the bike will be sold via select few dealerships across the country.

With the CBR also to be made available with ABS, it seems that Indian biking scene is headed for some exciting times ahead.

The All New Tvs Jive with hands-free gear shift

TVS Motors has today launched its much awaited clutchless bike Jive in the Indian market. Powered by an 110cc engine, Jive develops 8.4bhp of maximum power at 7500rpm and a maximum torque of 8.3Nm. Jive comes with T-Matic technology.  Jive comes with 4-speed transmission but features an handsfree gearshift. Jive comes with Tmatic technology (TVS term for automatic clutch). With a wheelbase of 1260mm, TVS Jive uses drum brake at the front and the rear.  Jive has fuel tank capacity of 15litres and 2 litre as reserve.  TVS Jive comes with gear Indicator and underseat space (bottle,umbrella and document).

 

All New Tvs Flame DS 125 3 Valve Dual Spark

This executive segment motorcycle, launched under the brand TVS Flame DS 125, is propelled by three valve CC-VTi technology, fired by twin-spark plugs. The technology has been developed with AVL Austria and the 125 cc three-valve engine is tuned to the ideal swirl-tumble port combination so that it delivers superior performance while simultaneously enhancing low, mid range power and delivering high fuel efficiency.

The additional power and mileage is achieved by two separate intake ports namely swirl and tumble ports. The swirl port creates swirl motion of air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. This swirl motion helps in efficient combustion of lean air-fuel mixture, thus giving maximum fuel economy in its class. The tumble port provides the high flow rate, which aids delivery of high power.

TVS Flame DS 125 is the only motorcycle in the country to have a unique combination of three valves and two spark plugs.

Packing in 10.5 bhp @ 7500 rpm, TVS Flame DS 125 has a top speed of 95 kmph. Futuristic styling and technology deployed in this motorcycle gives it best-in-class appeal.

The motorcycle’s styling includes trendy headlight with two position lamps and embedded turn signal indicators which give the bike a sporty finish. The 240 mm front disc brake is complemented with a chic triangular exhaust that is not only unique but also enhances performance and delivers a pleasing sound with low emissions. The rear end of the bike sports a dual lens tail lamp. The bike is provided with electric start.

The bike, priced at Rs 49,200 (ex-showroom), comes in dual tone colours of red and black.

TVS Apache RTR 180

TVS Motors has come up with another variant of Apache - The RTR 180.  Apache RTR has been very well recieved by bike enthusiasts and the new RTR 180 is going to take a step further with more powerful engine and some interesting additions in design. The bike retains the basic lines of the current RTR & comes with all the high tech features: digital speedometer with top speed, 0-60 timer, trips, and other extra functionality plus stunning looks. Apache RTR looks best in its class and has been priced very competitively in comparison to other bikes in its segment.

Engine & Performance Figures Of Apache RTR 180

The Apache RTR 180 is powered by a 177.4cc engine which generates 17 Bhp of maximum power with 15.5 Nm of maximum torque. The new 177.4cc mill is a bored out variation of the 160cc mill, and has a longer stroke too. The new engine still remains an oversquare unit, but not so much so as the 160. Power is up by 1.3 Bhp to 17 Bhp and the new engine produces 2.4 more units of twisting force at 15.5Nm. The peak power is produced at 8500 rpm, similar to RTR 160, though the peak torque is now produced at 6500 revs.

The aerodynamic air scoops add to the design plus it ensure Air is directed towards the engine unit to help better cooling efficiency. TVS claims the new apache RTR 180 to reach 60kmph from standstill in 4.15 seconds and top speed as 125kph. Here is a comparison of Apache RTR 180 with Yamaha R15, Karizma ZMR & Bajaj Pulsar 220. Though the class of Apache RTR 180 is a segment lower than the other three bike in terms of engine capacity but Apache 180 generates 17.3 Bhp of maximum power which is in the league of the other three bikes.

Looks & Styling Of Apache RTR 180

The TVS Apache 180 adorns a new graphic scheme to distinguish itself from its smaller siblings, with RTR emblazoned boldly on the tank scoops. The front forks and the gas reservoirs for the rear shocks are now painted in a new golden shade and the clip-ons have a new RTR 180 emblem at the centre. Stylish alloys, unique grab rails, classy silencer, larger & sharp lined fuel tank, all these elements combine perfectly to give Apache RTR 180 a sporty eye-catching looks. Apart from the New White tachometer the rest of the instrument cluster is same like the RTR 160 with Digital blue backlit Speedometer. The rear is also same with LED tail lamps, re-styled silencer and CBZ X-treme type split grab rail.

Ride & Handling Of Apache RTR 180

New Apache RTR 180's wheelbase is longer than the old Apache RTR 160 by a good 400mm, making it substantially more stable and confidence inspiring than its earlier iteration when leaned over. RTR 180 feels more stable and planted both in straight line as well as around bends. The engine fairing design shows the amount of detailing gone into its development plus add into aerodynamic design.

It employs a forged brake lever and gear lever set which delivers great looks and also lighter in construction. It also comes with removable rear fender - a first in its class. The riding posture on the RTR 180 is forward set up one which brings a huge difference in ride quality. A pillion rider will also feel more comfortable sitting on a RTR because of its forward set foot pegs and elegantly designed unique grab rails. RTR's specially developed race crouch mirrors provide better angle and safety besides looking great too.
